In 2008 Lafayette Utilities System began
construction of one of the nation's largest municipal Fiber-To-The-Home and Business networks. Construction of the system is projected to be complete by 2010 with 83,500 glass miles deployed.

Portal which allows customers to connect to the Internet through their TV and a 100 Mbps Peer-to-Peer Intranet which allows customers to communicate and share files with each
